DescriptionDuncanson creates an idyllic tropical landscape with a central lake surrounded by mountains; a small flotilla of boats glide towards the land, where a group of people process up a grand staircase toward an Orientalizing palace; a group of minstrels and a dancer occupy the lower left foreground; on the right side of the composition, a natural cascade feeds an ornate fountain that overflows into the lake.
