DescriptionPatinated (sentoku), bulbous body with domed lid rests on three silver angled legs with pad feet. Applied and inlaid silver ornamentation of fish, sea grass, and reeds, all with engraved highlights. Applied gold-colored crab. Top with hole (for pepper). Top surround decorated with three groups of applied silver pawlonia leaves. Legs rotate for grinding mechanism. Hinged label plate on base where peppercorns would have been inserted.On View
