Label TextThroughout his career Conrad Marca-Relli has been keenly interested in the material quality of his work. In the 1950s he created very textured works of art that combined painting and collaged pieces of canvas. By the early 1960s he had become intrigued with the smooth finish of industrial materials, especially aluminum. He created a series of collages, including Lockheed 200, made with simplified shapes and sweeping lines that referred to airplane components.
