Label TextTo Become Green Again and Young
In Rio de Janeiro Would there was a body of water
they go at midnight deep and wide enough
to welcome the new year. for the errors of some of us.
Fresh in white garments Arctic, Antarctic, Atlantic, Indian, Pacific
bearing white candles Caribbean Sea Atlantic Ocean
they assemble by the sea where our ancestors drowned.
to toss old year's errors There is a spirit nation
griefs and mistakes under the ocean. May its citizens plead
into the accepting waves. for our recovery and redemption.
Begin again afresh and new Midnight at the close of this year,
when the year turns to become my mother's spirit urges me
green again and young. to entrust my sorrows to the sea.
