Label Text This souvenir from the World’s Columbian Exposition shows the rounded dome of the Palace of Agriculture (right) and the long arcades of the Manufacture and Liberal Arts buildings (left). A visitor standing before the Administration building and looking across the Grand Basin would have had this view. The allegorical figure, possibly intended to represent the Republic, differs from the statute still standing in Jackson Park. She has been given a spindly throne and an entourage of cherubs holding symbols of Industry, Art, and Science. Prominent among the flowers in the corners are goldenrod, lilac, and pansies. On the reverse shows a body of water with boats, two large buildings, and a pavillion.
