Label TextFrederic Remington modeled the clay original upon which this bronze casting is based in late 1894 and early 1895. The Bronco Buster was the first and most successful of a series of twenty bronze sculptures of mostly western subjects that Remington produced from this time until his death in 1909. The subjugation of the horse in this work can be seen as a metaphor of the conquest and settlement of the American west. PDS
