Label TextThe early 20th century print maker Emmanuel Galanis is a relatively obscure figure in contrast to the other artists whose prints Root donated to the museum. From what is known about the deliberateness with which Root assembled his print collection over the course of many years there was probably a good reason, now lost in history, why he acquired this work. It is one of a number of 20th century prints Root donated to the museum by such artists as Braque, Dali, Kandinsky, Léger, Matisse, Picasso, Rouault, Severini and others. PDS February 2005
